The Strange Morality of Chuck and Nancy

As of this writing the partial government shutdown is showing no end in sight. The President made his pitch to the nation and so did slip and fall lawyer and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and space cadet and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi made theirs.

The President spoke of a crisis on our southern border and quoted the crime statistics to prove it. Chuck and Nancy dismissed the concerns of President Trump and accused him of manufacturing a crisis.

Now this sounds rather hollow coming from politicians who claim that a crisis exists every time they want to promote any part of their agenda. There is a global warming crisis (make that a climate change crisis) and so we need to wreck the American economy in an effort that would make little if any difference. There is a health care crisis so we must have a governmental takeover of the health industry that skyrockets health insurance premiums to fix it. There is a crisis of violence in America so we must disarm law-abiding citizens so that we can all feel safe while the criminals keep their guns.

Did the President manufacture a crisis? Let’s see. Did Trump manufacture all the women, girls and boys who were raped on their way to America by smugglers and gangs? Did he manufacture the children who are brought from Central and South America and trafficked into the sex slave business?

Did Trump manufacture the MS-13 gang members who have come across our border illegally and set up their criminal enterprises in the United States? Did he manufacture the terrorists who are now among us, waiting for the right moment to strike?

Did the President manufacture the thousands of Americans who have been murdered by illegal aliens? Did he manufacture the many legal immigrants who have been murdered by illegal aliens?

Did President Trump manufacture the illegal drugs that pour across our southern border on d daily basis? Did he manufacture all the heroin and fentanol that that is smuggled across our border to kill thousands of Americans every year?

No, none of these were manufactured. The statistics the President quoted and the illustrations he gave all represent individual tragedies that would not have taken place but for an immigration system that has been broken for decades.

President Trump has a plan to provide a remedy for this widespread and lethal problem. It involves more manpower, more judges, more facilities, more high tech involvement and a physical barrier where needed.

Schumer and Pelosi say that a steel slat wall, which has been requested by border patrol agents, would not work. Yet a wall works in Israel, and has worked in San Diego, where illegal crossings have been reduced by 95%.

Perhaps the most galling claim by Pelosi is the statement that a wall would be immoral. To this Schumer agrees. Yet they don’t seem to see anything immoral about chopping up babies in their mother’s wombs and sucking the parts into a sink. This is a strange sense of morality indeed.

As they gave their rebuttal to the President, Chuck and Nancy were standing in front of six American flags. I couldn’t help but think that it would have been more appropriate for the two to be standing in front of the Mexican, Honduran, Guatemalan, El Salvadoran, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan flags. They certainly don’t have America’s interests at heart.
