(Ms. Coleman-If you find it necessary to once again edit out my accurate description of Mr. Crowe's caricature of the pot-bellied state trooper, please do not publish my letter. I'm BCCing to my friends and I'll just post it on Facebook and WKRG's FB page)
To reiterate what I and several others (e.g. Albert Pruett on 1/19) have said in previous letters, J.D. Crowe's cartoons have become quite tiresome at best. At worst, he continually depicts the people of the south as hayseed hicks who lack the intellect of his elite liberal class. His recent depiction of a pot-bellied state trooper checking the immigration status of the three wise men, the above referenced depiction of Gov Bentley, and that of a Baldwin county commissioner as a gun-loading sheriff (1/19) are only three examples. Political satire in the form of cartoons should at least bring a smile. Crowe's more often do not. Instead, they frequently require extensive captions explaining his point. The Press-Register and the people of south Alabama deserve better and Mr. Crowe should be sent packing....preferably to a blue state. Roland A. Kidd, Sr. |
